Communication Takes the Next Step: 361 Faculty Students Celebrate Their Graduation in a Heartfelt Ceremony
With a palpable sense of excitement in the air and eyes filled with anticipation for their professional future, 361 students from the five bachelor's degrees offered by the UAB Faculty of Communication Studies celebrated the graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2022–2026 during the month of July.
The graduation ceremony for the Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication and the Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Communication took place on 2 July at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Letters. Following the welcome address by the Dean, Dr Juan José Perona, and the opening remarks by the Vice-Dean for Students, Mobility and International Projection, Dr Ileana Zeler, the academic sponsors, Dr Carmen Avalos del Pino (Audiovisual Communication) and Dr Pau Lluís Gumiel (Interactive Communication), delivered speeches filled with warmth and encouraging messages for their students.
Representing the graduating class, Aina Gallardo and Kawtar Benktib Harrak (Interactive Communication), together with Carlos de Francesco, Sabina Manzano and Joanaina Fuster (Audiovisual Communication), gave heartfelt speeches expressing their gratitude. The programme coordinators, Dr Matilde Delgado and Dr Fernanda Pires, announced the names of the graduates (65 in Audiovisual Communication and 38 in Interactive Communication) and invited them onto the stage to receive their diplomas. The academic ceremony concluded with closing remarks from the Dean and, as tradition dictates, with the performance of the academic anthem Gaudeamus Igitur.
On 16 July, the Auditorium of the Faculty of Letters hosted the graduation ceremony for the Bachelor's Degree in Organisational Communication and the Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Public Relations. Presided over by the Dean together with Dr Ileana Zeler, the ceremony featured speeches by the academic sponsors, Dr Núria Torras Planas (Organisational Communication) and Dr Elaine Lopes (Advertising and Public Relations), as well as contributions from students Elisabet López (Organisational Communication), Nora González, Andrea Ferrández, Berta Santafè, Manar Tadlaoui and Cristina Pintor (Advertising and Public Relations), who shared reflections and experiences from their years at the Faculty. The programme coordinators, Dr Ileana Zeler and Dr Alfons González, announced the names of the graduates. The ceremony then continued with the reading of the Ethical Commitment by Dr Carolina Serra, board member of the Col·legi del Màrqueting i la Comunicació de Catalunya.
With a total of 55 graduates in Organisational Communication and 78 in Advertising and Public Relations, the ceremony ended with farewell remarks from the Dean, Dr Juan José Perona, followed by the performance of Gaudeamus Igitur.
Finally, on 23 July, the graduation ceremony for the Bachelor's Degree in Journalism was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Letters. The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Juan José Perona, opened the ceremony by congratulating both the students for their dedication and their families for their unwavering support. Hosted by the Vice-Dean for Students, Mobility and International Projection, Dr Ileana Zeler, the event included not only institutional speeches but also student contributions and moments of shared laughter and emotion. The Vice-Dean then invited the programme's academic sponsor, Dr Santiago Giraldo, to speak, followed by students Ainhoa Espejo and Pol López, who gave voice to the experiences and emotions of their graduating class. Dr Isabel Fernández, lecturer in the programme, announced the names of the graduates. The ceremony then continued with the reading of the Ethical Commitment by Dr Joan Maria Morros, Dean of the Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya.
With a total of 125 graduates, the ceremony took place in an atmosphere of celebration and shared pride. The event concluded with the performance of Gaudeamus Igitur, symbolising the beginning of a new chapter full of challenges and opportunities.
