Call for grant applications for organising events on language diversity management in UAB classrooms (2022)

Description

As the UAB and its students become more and more international in nature, lecturers often have to cope with classes that are highly diverse in terms of languages and cultures. 

These grants aim to help in organising conferences and seminars, to be held in 2022, for lecturers to share their experiences in managing diversity in UAB classrooms or research groups.

The grants are intended to cover the following costs, partially or fully.

  1. Organising, publicising and conducting the event.
  2. Remuneration for speakers, which may cover their participation in the event and travel expenses.
  3. Financial assistance for students and young researchers attending the event.
  4. Audiovisual support for virtual or telepresence workshops (e.g. video editing of the workshop).

Requirements

Academic staff and Administration and Services staff who are member of the organising committee of the event may apply for the grants.

Incompatibilities

This grant is compatible with other grants and funding awarded for the same purpose as long as they are destined to cover different costs.

Applicants must fill in the grant application form.

Applications may be submitted for completed events or for events that are still being prepared.

The budget section of the application form must be completed with the total income and expenditure, indicating the sources or possible sources of funding. Expenses and the amount requested must be specified as support.

Comments

The period for submitting applications in this call is from 24 March 2020 to 29 April 2022. They should be submitted to the UAB’s Office for Assistance in Registration Matters (OAMR)

If this call is declared null and void or its budget has not been exhausted within the period stipulated in these rules, an extraordinary application period may be opened, to be established in the meeting of the Committee on International Relations and Language Policy in which the resolution on the call is made.

The following options are available for submitting applications and documents:

  1. In person, at the UAB Registry (Central Executive Building/Rectorat)or at Auxiliary Registries.
  2. Electronically, at https://seuelectronica.uab.cat/info-sol-licitud-generica. The form, duly completed and signed, must be attached when submitting.

 
The following documents are necessary for justification:

  1. Report of the activity.
  2. Financial report signed by the person in charge of the activity. This must detail the justification for all expenses incurred and their amounts, in accordance with the items set out in the budget submitted with the application for aid.

Resolution

The International Relations and Language Policy Committee is the body responsible for deciding on successful applications.
 
Decisions are published on the UAB web page  (https://www.uab.cat/beques-ajuts/) and on the Language Service website (www.uab.cat/idiomes-campus), in both cases under the section Language Grants and Calls for Applications, one month after the deadline for applications.
