CFGS students
Advanced vocational training* (known as CFGS in Catalan) students, can get access to the university without taking any further tests. Their CFGS mark has no expiry date and it has to be between 5 and 10. These students can take the specific phase of the PAU (University Entrance Exam) to raise their marks. The only requirements are having passed that subject (with a 5 at least) and that subject being related to the branch of knowledge of the studies you want to be admitted into. The test is the same for them and for Batxillerat students.
If you have taken the tests of the specific phase, your weighed average mark is the average of your previous studies (CFGS) plus the mark of your specific phase. The students have a different mark for every degree and university they want to be admitted into. The mark range goes between 5 and 14 points.
This mark is calculated as follows:
Admission mark = AM + (a S1) + (b S2)
AM = average mark of the advanced vocational training course (10 points maximum).
S1, S2 = the two best marks of the subjects taken in the specific phase (4 points maximum).
a, b = weighing parameters (0.1 or 0.2).
Example:
A student with an advanced vocation training course diploma has an admission mark of 8.500. If the student wants to study a degree and the cut-off mark is not higher than the one the student has already, he/she will be admitted. Nevertheless, if the student wants to be admitted in physiotherapy (with a cut-off mark of 9.6 in 2010, the year when the new PAU tests came out, adding the specific phase which made the admission marks rise), he/she will need to take the specific phase, if he takes Biology and Chemistry tests and gets the following marks: 7.250 and 6.775, he/she will get both of them weighed with a coefficient of 0.2 each to access the UAB, these results will probably grant him/her access to these studies.
Students have two yearly calls to take the specific phase tests, and they can take up to subjects per call. The subjects are the following: Musical Analysis, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, Audiovisual Culture, Drawing, Design, Business Economics, Electrotechnics, Physics, Geography, Greek, Art History, Catalan Literature, Spanish Literature, Latin, Applied Mathematics for Social Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, Industrial Technology. The applications are ordered by the admission mark (the average mark of a score out of 10) or by the weighed admission mark (that includes the two best marks, previously weighed, of the subjects passed on the specific phase).
If you have studied Batxillerat or a CFGS, you need to get information about the subjects that are important to get access to the degree you want study, which non-mandatory subjects are best weighed and how many seats are offered, because you will need to take the specific tests if the admission mark is high or there are limited seats.

Some degrees recognise CFGS subjects and add them to your academic record. The subjects will be added as “recognised”, the subject will count as passed but will not be added to your student record scores. Check this link to find out which undergraduate degress recognise CFGS subjects.
* Students with one of the following Spanish national vocational qualifications (advanced): tècnic superior d'FP, tècnic superior d'arts plàstiques i disseny, tècnic esportiu superior or equivalent, can get access to undergraduate degree without any admission tests. The average mark of the CFGS course (on a scale of 1 to 10) will be equivalent to the general phase admission mark.
