What is the Mentoria UAB programme?
It is a programme that connects senior undergraduate students or recent alumni with experienced professionals who have led teams or projects (also alumni), to help them guide and boost their professional future. The mentoring pairs between students (mentees) and experienced alumni (mentors) are the core of the programme, and this relationship of trust is what participants value most each year.

The programme is coordinated by Alumni UAB, the network of UAB graduates. All UAB graduates are automatically and freely part of this network and can benefit from all programmes and opportunities published on our website.

Who is it for?
As mentees, it targets 4th and 5th-year undergraduate students and alumni within their first year after graduation. Check full eligibility criteria.

As mentors, it is aimed at UAB alumni with experience leading teams or projects in their field. Check full eligibility criteria.

What is the objective?
To help participants discover their strengths, define career goals and facilitate their transition into the labour market. It also aims to strengthen the alumni network for both mentors and mentees.

How are mentoring pairs formed?
Pairs are created based on the mentee’s field of study and professional interests, ensuring alignment with the mentor’s profile and career path.

What activities are included?
Training sessions on transversal skills (soft skills), networking activities, mentor–mentee meetings, company visits, development of an action plan and delivery of an Elevator Pitch.

Programme duration
The programme is designed not to interfere with the academic calendar. It usually lasts around 5 months, from November to April. Check the specific calendar in the infographic.

Can academic credits be obtained?

Yes, the Mentoria UAB programme is an activity that offers academic credit recognition. You can obtain 3 RAC credits (76.5 hours) if you meet the programme requirements: attend at least 80% of the training sessions, participate in the in-person activities, deliver the Elevator Pitch presentation, and submit the Action Plan.

How are the 3 RAC credits added to my academic record?

You should contact your faculty’s academic administration as soon as possible to learn about the procedure for adding the credits to your academic record. They will provide detailed information on deadlines and requirements. Please note that you must recognise a minimum of 6 credits (equivalent to a full course), which may come from a combination of different activities.

Once the programme has ended, each participant’s attendance and participation are reviewed. If the requirements are met, an official certificate for the 3 RAC credits (76.5 hours) is issued and delivered at the end of the programme. Afterwards, each participant must submit this certificate to their faculty’s academic administration office so that the credits can be added to their academic record.

Who can be a mentor?
UAB alumni with professional experience and a track record of leading teams or projects.

What are the eligibility criteria for mentors?

• Be a UAB alumnus/alumna (i.e. have graduated from UAB).
• Have professional experience in a field of interest to participants.
• Have experience leading teams or projects.
• Show commitment to mentoring.
• Be interested in fostering a professional network, both for themselves and for the mentee.
• Demonstrate empathy and active listening skills.

What will you need to do as a mentor?

• Be available for at least 6 meetings with your mentee (online or in person).
• Attend the mentor training session (online).
• Attend 3 in-person sessions: kick-off, follow-up and closing.
• Organise a company visit (if applicable).

When can I apply as a mentor?
Mentor applications are open year-round. Please note that confirmation of a mentee match will not take place until September–October.

Who can be a mentee?
Fourth- and fifth-year undergraduate students and alumni up to one year after graduation.

What are the eligibility criteria for mentees?

• Interest in exploring future career options and personal development.
• Availability and commitment to the programme.
• Belonging to any faculty or school of UAB or FUAB.
• Being a 4th- or 5th-year student or within the first year after graduation.
• Willingness to dedicate the required time to achieve learning goals.

Can I apply if I am in my 3rd year?
In general, no. However, cases may be considered if participation the following year is not possible.

Can I apply if I am in 1st or 2nd year?
No, the programme is aimed at final-year students.

What if I am doing an Erasmus, study abroad or internship?
The programme recognises the difficulty of balancing activities with studies, internships or work, and therefore offers some flexibility, provided that participation does not fall below 80%.

It is not recommended to join the programme while on an Erasmus or study abroad placement.

You simply need to complete the application form for students or mentors available on the Mentoria UAB homepage. Please note that the form may be closed outside the application period (see calendar).

Attending an information session is recommended in order to learn more about the programme and clarify any questions.

Around September–October, applicants will be informed whether their profile matches a mentee or mentor (see calendar).

When do applications open?
The application form is open all year round for both mentors and mentees.
Review of applications, information sessions and matching take place between May and September.

Is it mandatory to attend an information session?
Yes, attending an information session is mandatory, regardless of whether you have already completed the application form.

How is the application formalised?
Through the corresponding form available on the Mentoria UAB webpage.

Who finds the mentor?
Alumni UAB is responsible for matching each selected participant with a mentor who fits their professional profile.

When will I know if I have been selected?
Around September–October, once the matching process between students and professionals has been completed.

When will I know who my mentor is?
At the end of October, after the matching process. A face-to-face session will be to facilitate the first meeting.

What if I don’t have availability?
It is not recommended to apply, as committing to attend at least 80% of the sessions is mandatory to complete the programme.

Can I participate again in the UAB Mentoring Programme? What if I couldn’t finish it?
It is not possible to participate again. Once you have been accepted into the programme and assigned a mentor, the place is reserved exclusively for you for the entire academic year. For this reason, if you decide to withdraw or are unable to continue, it is not possible to register again in another edition.
