The course Introduction to Pali Language and Literature: Advanced Syntax and Text Reading expands on the topics and content of the previous courses entitled Introduction to Pali Language and Literature and Introduction to Pali Language and Literature: Advanced Concepts, which are taught at the UAB. Although it is a continuation in terms of content, this new course is independent in terms of enrolment. It is not necessary to have completed the previous course to be accepted, but a minimum knowledge of Pali is recommended in order to follow it successfully.
Students will delve deeper into aspects of Pali grammar and stylistics, primarily through reading original texts, exploring different types of verbs, analysing complex noun compounds, and consolidating their analysis of compound sentences, both in form and function (stylistics).
This course is ideal for those seeking a deeper understanding of Buddhist teachings in their original context.
