How to study contemporary democratic erosion
Description:
As part of the activities of the ARENAS project (Analysis of and Response to Extremist Narratives), the seminar “How to study contemporary democratic erosion?” will be given by Nicolás Emanuel Olivares (CONICET-FC-UdG) on 3 July. The seminar will start at 11:00 a.m. online through the following link. This talk is organised by ARENAS and the Centre of Dictatorships and Democracies Studies (CEDID-UAB).

First meeting on RNA and ribonucleases
Description:
On 3 and 4 July the 1st International Meeting on RNA & Ribonucleases will take place in the Sala de graus of the Faculty of Biosciences. A total of 47 researchers from 14 different countries will be participating. The congress is organised by Ester Boix, Jiarui Li, Guillem Prats-Ejarque and Mohammed Moussaoui, all lecturers in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and forms part of the events organised by the new regional network entitled Catalonia RNA & RNase Salon. The network is composed of members of the UAB, the University of Girona and the ALBA Synchrotron. The network's mission is to promote exchange and debate within the biology sector of RNA and ribonucleases. The meeting is sponsored by the RNA Society, Lexogen, the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and The Company of Biologists.

Investiture ceremony of Koen Lenaerts as honorary doctor of the UAB
Description:
Belgian jurist Koen Lenaerts, president of the Court of Justice of the European Union and professor at the Catholic University of Leuven, will be awarded an honorary doctorate by the UAB, at the proposal of the Faculty of Law. The ceremony will take place on 4 July 4 at 12:00 noon, in the conference hall of the Rectorat building. His sponsor will be Gregori Garzón, professor of public international law and holder of the Jean Monnet Chair ad personam of EU Law. The ceremony will be streamed live on the UAB YouTube channel.

Presentation of the J-Lab platform: "The success of Japanese pop culture in our country"
Description:
The J-Lab digital platform, launched by the UAB's GREGAL research group in collaboration with Casa Àsia, was born with the goal of offering a dynamic and rigorous space dedicated to information, knowledge and analyses of the relations between Japan and Spain. It focuses particularly on areas such as public diplomacy, language and culture, society and economics, and science and technology.
The presentation of the platform will include the presence of Professor Pau Pitarch from the Waseda University in Tokyo, who will analyse the growing social interest in Japanese literature in Spain, within the context of global success of Japanese cultural and creative industries, ranging from manga and anime to music (J-pop), cinema and video games (geemu).

Argó Award Ceremony for CFGS research projects
Description:
The rector's commissioner for relations with secondary education and university access, Jordi Barbé, will preside over the ceremony in which the first, second and third prizes will be awarded, as well as the mentions, in two categories, to the best CFGS research projects of the 22nd edition of the Argó Awards.
Also present at the presidential table will be Anna Ortiz, deputy director of the Institute of Education Studies of the UAB, and Begonya Oliveras, coordinator of the Argó Programme and secretary of the jury of the Argó Awards.
The students receiving the awards, their families and teachers will attend. In addition to collecting the award, the first place winners will give a presentation of their project.

Commemorative act for the victims of the Roquemaure accident
Description:
On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the accident suffered by a group of UAB students returning from an end-of-year trip in July 1995, next Thursday 10 July, a commemorative act will take place at the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy. The event will take place at 6:00 p.m., at the monument in the courtyard in front of the dean's office, and will be attended by a group of classmates of the victims of the accident, which occurred on a stretch of road in Roquemaure, near the French city of Nîmes. Among the 23 people who lost their lives were nine students from this Faculty.
