The struggle for the meaning of the Second Spanish Republic in historiography and narrative
Description:
As part of the permanent seminar of the Literary Exile Studies Group (GEXEL-CEDID) of the UAB on 12 June at 4:30 p.m., the Board room of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities will host the session “‘Un pasado cargado de ahora’: la lucha por el significado de la II República española en la historiografía y en la narrativa (1937-2021)” [A past loaded with now: the struggle for the meaning of the Second Spanish Republic in historiography and narrative (1937-2021)]. It will be given by Rebeca Rodríguez Hoz, lecturer at the University of Cantabria and author of the essays "¿Qué fue de la niña bonita? La experiencia republicana en la narrativa (1937-2021)" and "Lo que fue de la República... la experiencia republicana en la historiografía (1940-2021)". The event can also be followed online through the Microsoft Teams platform.

Presentation of the book: "El franquismo: Anatomía de una dictadura (1936-1977)"
Description:
On 12 June the collective book El franquismo. Anatomía de una dictadura (1936-1977) (Comares), edited by François Godicheau and Jorge Marco, will be presented with the participation of members of the Center for Studies on Dictatorships and Democracies of the UAB. Carme Molinero, professor of contemporary history at the UAB; Pau Casanellas, director of CEDID-UAB; Xavier Domènech, lecturer of contemporary history at the UAB; Javier Tébar, lecturer of history at the University of Barcelona and Pere Ysàs, professor of contemporary history at the UAB will also take part in the presentation. The talk will take place at the Centre Cultural La Model in Barcelona at 6:00 p.m.

Royal Society of Medicine coloproctology conference in Barcelona
Description:
Gianluca Pellino and Eloy Espin, lecturers in the UAB Department of Surgery, participate in the organisation of two coloproctology session of the United Kingdom's Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). The sessions will take place on 12 and 13 June at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and the Centre Artchimboldi in Barcelona. The second day will be inaugurated by lecturer Eloy Espin and Ian Jenkins, president of the RSM Coloproctology Section, and the session will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Centre Artchimboldi (Carrer Còrsega 286). The meeting will include demonstrations of live robotic surgery, master conferences with guest speakers, talks by leaders in the field and a scientific session for students and grantholders, as well as other activities. Those interested can apply to attend ntil 5 June at 1:00 p.m.

Neopagan altars live religion: Daily urban connection with sacred nature

The UAB's ISOR research group, in collaboration with the University of Groningen, organises a webinar series entitled “Varieties of Re-enchantment: Nature and Spirituality in Contemporary Societies”. The third conference is entitled “Neopagan altars live religion: The daily urban connection with sacred nature” and will be given by lecturer Renée de la Torre of the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS Occidente) in Guadalajara, Mexico. Summer Solstice 2025
Description:
The AmicsUAB association organises the Summer Solstice 2025 festival to celebrate the end of the academic year and welcome the summer season. This meeting seeks to promote community tuies and create an experience that can be shared by all on 19 June at the Torre Vila-Puig starting at 6:00 p.m. A special celebration focused on traditional Catalan culture, with several activities, raffles and live music, and the participation of traditional groups such as the gegants, sardanes, bastoners and castellers. The celebration will include drinks and snacks and will the ideal way to end an academic year in a leisurely manner, surrounded by traditions. The evening will end with a toast led by the Board of the AmicsUAB and the UAB Governing Team. To attend please sign up here.
