Riga hosts European students committed to leading change with sustainability and emotional intelligence
Ten UAB students took part, from 19 to 23 May, in the #edu4sdgs Summer School, an international event in Riga that brought together 43 young people from the Lodz University of Technology, Riga Technical University and the UAB to work on sustainability, emotional intelligence and social responsibility.

Riga Technical University (RTU) hosted the #edu4sdgs Summer School, an international programme with the participation of UAB students alongside peers from the Lodz University of Technology (Poland) and Riga Technical University (Latvia). The programme aimed to empower young people to become active agents of change in their communities and at a global level, with a special focus on sustainability, emotional intelligence and social responsibility.
During five intensive and participatory days, students engaged in a wide range of activities designed to foster critical thinking, communication and transformative leadership: emotional intelligence workshops, urban games, debates and collaborative dynamics. Among the highlights were the urban games designed by the #edu4sdgs project team, with six creative scenarios that tested participants’ ability to collaborate and think globally.
One of the programme’s main goals was to redefine the concept of “Agent of Change”. In this context, 23 students were recognised for their initiative and leadership, including 5 UAB participants, who demonstrated a strong potential to drive positive change in their social and educational environments.
The participation of UAB students in this initiative allowed them not only to gain knowledge and skills in sustainability and emotional well-being, but also to build international connections and actively contribute to the debate on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Erasmus+ #edu4sdgs project is a programme designed to train change agents across Europe, coordinated by the UAB’s Challenge Office. It is funded by the European Commission (Erasmus+ programme) and coordinated by the Lodz University of Technology (Poland), with the collaboration of the UAB, the Welfare and Development Association (Spain), the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (Germany), Team Coaching (Poland) and Riga Technical University (Latvia).
