This unique opportunity allows students to acquire essential skills for their professional future, while developing ideas in an international context and coming into contact with business and public entities all over Europe. Participating in these challenges means finding creative solutions to real-life problems, and generating a real impact on communities and regions.

Students enrolled in these challenges can obtain ECTS credits.

The ECIU University now opens registrations for the different challenges offered by its European universities.

The University of Trento in Italy is offering 2 challenges, which will be open for registration until 31 January: “Alpine Smart Working”, which aims to find solutions that can strengthen the remote working model; and “Business Analytics for a Sustainable Telecommunication Market”, which aims to rethink the telecommunications market in the next 5 years.

Finally, the Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania offers “Changing the game in household waste sorting”, a challenge seeking to create an innovative manner to help, motivate and teach people to recycle at home and reduce residue impact. Registration will be open until 21 February.

How to sign up for the challenges?

First of all, those interested must register on the ECIU University platform and sign up for the challenges that interest them. Once their application has been approved, students will join the team, which is made up of other students and one lecturer. To provide a solution for the challenge, students can also sign up for micromodules, specific training courses within a particular area of study which provides students with additional skills.

Once the challenge is completed, each student will receive a certificate.

Micromodules

The different members of the European universities are currently offering 49 micromodules.

These training courses give students support and aid them in broadening their knowledge on specific areas. They also help boost students’ entrepreneurial spirit, intercultural communication, foreign language skills, and other abilities.

“Intercultural Competences” micromodule

This training course is a joint initiative by the UAB, the INSA Groupe (France), the Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), the University of Trento (Italy), the University of Stavanger (Norway), the University of Twente (the Netherlands) and Aalborg University (Denmark).

This micromodule lasts 9 weeks and is worth 2 ECTS credits, and aims to help students determine and improve their intercultural skills through conferences and team training with the best experts in Europe, to then apply these skills to an international project on citizen science.

This free course is open to all ECIU Universuty students.
