Learning opportunities at the ECIU, the UAB's European alliance
UAB students are also students of the ECIU, the European alliance of which the UAB forms part. This fact allows them to participate in international challenges, training micro-modules and short mobility stays with financial support.

Many challenges and micro-modules include a short mobility stay with the possibility of receiving financial aid. In addition, students can earn ECTS credits and a digital micro-credential, which certifies the skills acquired.
Through the “Engage” platform, which centralises all training offers, the ECIU offers a new way of learning based on challenge-based learning. Launched by public institutions, companies and organisations from across Europe, these challenges are related to issues such as sustainability, energy, health, mobility, and a digital society, and all work is done in international and multidisciplinary teams.
The option also includes taking micro-modules: short and flexible learning units designed to reinforce specific skills and complement the academic and professional profil·les of students.
Most of these learning opportunities are addressed to students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degrees, although some are also available for PhD students.
Many challenges and micro-modules include a short mobility stay with the possibility of receiving financial aid.
Furthermore, participation in these ECIU activities can be recognized in the academic record with ECTS credits and results in a digital micro-credential, which certifies the acquired skills, including the level of experience and the ESCO (European Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Occupations), and can be incorporated into the student's academic and professional curriculum.
The “Engage” platform offers the latests updates on available challenges and micro-modules, which can be consulted by area, course start date, duration, education level and participation requirements.
In addition to the UAB, the ECIU is formed by 11 more institutions from across Europe: Linköping University (Sweden), Dublin City University (Ireland), University of Twente (the Netherlands), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal), Università di Trento (Italy), Lodz University of Technology (Poland), University of Stavanger (Norway), Tampere University (Finland), INSA Group (France), and Hamburg University of Technology (Germany).
