Anna Pobeda, director and manager of the Fun English School, has been hiring UAB students for extracurricular internships for years. "They bring us a lot of new ideas. We are fascinated by it because they are able to learn everything very quickly and improve all processes. They raise everything to another level, they help us grow a lot," explains Anna.
Most of the students she hires come from the Faculty of Education Sciences, where she studied between 1982 and 1987. After graduating, she went to live in Nottingham, UK, and completed a master's degree in English language teaching. On his return to Catalonia, he realised that English was "not very modernised" and decided to found the Fun English School academy in Sabadell, a pioneer in teaching English to kindergarten children.
With 23 years of operation, his company helps UAB students to immerse themselves in the job market for the first time. But, apart from accompanying future alumni, he also obtains a business benefit: "he is a new talent, very creative, who helps us to innovate, a breath of fresh air!".
"I find them very passionate about what they do, very serious, compliant, responsible and professional, especially because of their age," says Anna, valuing the attitude. She recommends that other businessmen and businesswomen who graduated from the UAB bet on this young talent, as it is a very positive experience for both parties.
A similar experience is shared by Jordi Jové, founder and CEO of the company MasLeads, a business focused on data so that marketing and sales teams obtain the best qualified leads in real time. Jordi studied the Bachelor's Degree in Business and Technology at the UAB, and says that the experience of hiring professionals and students from this university has been very positive. "They are the employees with the longest time in the company," he explains.
Jordi highlights that UAB students are eager to do things, learn and are proactive. "I'm looking for more 360 profiles at a company and technology level, since I studied the degree and I know what it's like." For him, the UAB is a valuable source of talent because it provides profiles with a broad education and a great desire to contribute.
Regarding the connection service with UAB students, the employability service, Jordi considers that it is a very positive synergy for both parties and essential to facilitate the hiring process. She has hired two UAB students on internships who are now permanent workers in her company. "The attention and facilities for hiring, as well as the follow-up, are very good," he says.
Marian Izaquita, human resources advisor at TRADEBE, also shares her experience in hiring UAB students: "I have studied Business Administration and Management and my professional career has been diverse, starting in the administrative and financial field and later moving to the world of human resources management in various businesses of the company", explains Marian. According to her, "in general, the experience of hiring UAB students has been very positive. Students usually demonstrate a good academic level and a great ability to adapt".
She emphasizes that "their theoretical preparation, as well as their motivation and desire to learn, are key aspects. They often arrive with a good knowledge base and a proactive attitude, which makes it much easier for them to integrate into the team." He particularly values the training offered by the UAB, indicating that "I look at the UAB because it has an excellent reputation and a solid education. I am looking for profiles that are dynamic, with communication skills and that feel comfortable working in a team. I mainly receive candidates from the Faculty of Chemistry".
Marian has hired five UAB students, both on internships and permanently. "I value very positively that UAB students have this service. It facilitates the selection process and allows us to access a group of talented professionals in training who can contribute a lot to our companies," he says. In addition, he recommends that other employers " go to the UAB to hire staff because the students are very competent and well prepared to face professional challenges. In addition, they tend to have a very positive work attitude, which can be a great added value for any company."
