Mobility and grants
What is BIP grant?
If you take part in a challenge or micro-module, the format of which is blended, you can opt for the grant for the Blended Intensive Programme of the Erasmus+ BIP programme. In some cases where the BIP grant is not eligible, the mobility grant of the ECIUn+ project can be applied for.
Check out the information on Erasmus short stays (BIP) on the UAB Mobility and International Exchange page.
What are the conditions for applying for BIP grant?
It is necessary to consult the conditions of each challenge or micro-module. But in all cases it is mandatory:
- Having the approval of the student's center, the faculty or the person in charge of giving the acceptance as coordinator of mobilities.
- Having passed a minimum of 45/60 ECTS
- Check the BIP aid information on the International Mobility and Exchange website
If I am eligible for the BIP programme, what steps should I take to apply for the grant?
From the International Relations Area (ARI) you will receive an email with all the information. Generally, these will be the stages of the process:
- Application: ARI will open a BIP call through sia.uab.cat to be able to make the application
- Resolution: once it is published you will know if you can have the grant or not.
- Acceptance or not of the assigned place
- Presentation of compulsory documentation
It is important to check out all the information about the BIP program on the International Mobility and Exchange website.
When will I receive mobility grant?
Once the stay is over, you must provide the certificate of stay issued by the host university. As soon as this document is received, the payment order will be issued.
IMPORTANT: If you do not pass the challenge or micro-module you will have to return the money from the grant.
If I am not given BIP grant, will I be able to participate in the mobility of a challenge or micro-module?
It depends on whether mobility is mandatory or optional. If it is compulsory, students who do not obtain the grant can do the mobility with the option of Zero Scholarship, which means that you will not receive financial support, but you can participate in the challenge or micro-module and recognize the credits.
In some (few) cases mobility is optional, then either credit is recognized only in the virtual part, or organizers ensure that during the mobility week activities can also be followed virtually.
An alternative way to finance mobility stays is to ask for help from the ECIUn+ project fund. As these grants are limited, you must contact eciu.admissions@uab.cat to check their eligibility.
If you are not interested or you cannot choose any of the above options, you can drop out of the challenge or micro-module, informing the host university.
I am a master's student, can I request a BIP?
Most master's degrees are not eligible for a BIP. The reason is that, to receive BIP grant, it is necessary that the student can recognize the BIP credits within their academic record. Generally, master's degrees do not have space for credit recognition.
An alternative way to finance mobility stays is to ask for help from the ECIUn+ project fund. As these grants are limited, you must contact admissions.eciu@uab.cat to check their eligibility.
I am a PhD student, can I apply for a BIP grant?
Yes, as long as you have permission from your thesis supervisor, and the subject of the training must fit in with that of the PhD.
Will the University help me organize the trip and the accommodation for the stay?
The students must reserve their transport (flights, trains...) and accommodation. The University that organizes the challenge or micro-module always offers the student information on how to get there and recommendations on where to stay. If you have any questions regarding the stay and logistics, you can contact the host university.
