University Master's Degree in Educational Psychology (MIPE)

Unique programme in Catalonia and pioneer in the entire State, it brings together relevant teams from four universities, involved in both research and educational intervention and change programs inside and outside school.

 

The only Educational Psychology program since 2006 under the initiative of four universities (now five), it has the mention of International Master's Program (IMP) and has been accredited with excellence by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU).

It units the main research teams in this field, you will come into contact with the most up-to-date lines of study, both in research and in psychoeducational intervention.

You will be able to choose between three training itineraries, two professional and one research, which are specified in the specialties of Psychoeducational Intervention, Psychoeducational Guidance in secondary education and Psychoeducational Research (the latter gives access to the doctorate). The broad optionality allows you to build a personalized itinerary in psycho-pedagogical counseling, attention to diversity, cognitive development and learning processes, intercultural education, educational uses of ICT, intervention in a non-formal environment, intervention in the community and with families, studies on the curriculum and other emerging areas.

The training will allow you to intervene in very a variety of fields: compulsory education in pre-schools, primary schools, secondary schools and higher education centres; socioeducation intervention, inclusion and minor protection programmes, management of educational network, publishing houses, and educational assessment in entities such as museums, zoos, foundations and cooperation entities.

Career options

The Inter-university Master of Educational Psychology (MIPE) offers three educational lines associated with different profiles:

  • Profile on Psychoeducational Research. Students choosing this profile develop the ability to generate high quality scientific knowledge, to carry out and critically analyse highly specific investigations, and to create, analyse, diffuse scientific information, and offer qualified education in the field of educational psychology. 
  • Profile on Psychoeducational Intervention. Students choosing this profile develop the ability to plan and carry out psychoeducational interventions with a high degree of specificity to individual cases, group cases or institutional situations. Professional practices are considered from a lifelong perspective.
  • Profile on Psychoeducational Guidance in Secondary Education. On 25 July 2019, the Catalan agency for quality assurance in higher education, AQU Catalunya, approved to recognise the MIPE specialisation in Psychoeducational Guidance in Secondary Education as being equivalent to the master's degree diploma which gives access to professionals to work as teachers in secondary and upper secondary education centres, in vocational training centres,  and in language teaching centres under the specialisation of Educational Guidance.

The master's degree in Educational Psychology develops competences for the following areas of employment.
