In a global context of decarbonisation and transition toward renewable based energy systems, geosciences and geoenergy play a strategic role. The new UB UAB Master’s Degree in Geosciences for the Energy Transition trains specialists in geology and geophysics focused on contributing solutions within the emerging energy model. The programme centres on advanced subsurface and geoenergy studies, with emphasis on geothermal energy, subsurface storage, and responsible exploration.

The curriculum combines hands on training with state of the art technologies, modelling, and real case analysis, with a strong fieldwork component that is essential for understanding geological processes, interpreting structures, and characterising the subsurface. This approach fosters an interdisciplinary vision that integrates scientific rigour, innovation, and environmental responsibility.

The master’s programme modernises and evolves the former Reservoir Geology and Geophysics degree to address current sector needs, preparing professionals capable of leading strategic projects. It is aimed at graduates in geology, physics, geological engineering, and related fields who wish to develop a career in geoenergy.
