Registration open for the `De la Ciència al Mercat¿ programme, which encourages scientific entrepreneurship
The UB, the UAB, the UPC, the UPF, the UdG, and the UVic-UCC are launching the seventh edition of this programme, targeted towards masters and PhD stutdents who want to highlight the value of their thesis and transform them into a business and/or become part of an entrepreneurial team. It is a free, face-to-face training course, which will begin in September.
De la Ciència al Mercat, created jointly by six universities, is an initiative oriented towards promoting scientific entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer among the research personnel. The program is specifically aimed towards PhD candidates, predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers, as well as other professionals within the research field that want to explore the viability of taking the results of their projects to the market.
The program consists of 100 hours of practical, highly-specialised training in key fields such as business models, protection of knowledge through intellectual propriety, tech validation and strategies for the creation of start-ups and spin-offs. Furthermore, the programme includes mentoring by professionals on innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as meeting spaces with other researchers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of the business field.
With a hybrid format that combines face-to-face and online sessions, the programme allows participants to adapt their workloads and advance at their own pace. It will go on from September to December 2025.
Previous editions of the programme account for more than 150 participants, and have helped create twelve new spin-offs, such as Gate2Brain, Mitiga Solutions, and Koa Biotech, among others.
De la Ciència al Mercat is funded by the Department of Business and Work and the co-funding of the European Social Fund Plus. The initiative is looking to consolidate an ecosystem based on knowledge, promoting the creation of projects with an economic and social impact through the research created at Catalan universities.
