On Thursday, 5 November, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona campus will host two events open to the university community and the general public: La Comunitària, from 12 pm to 4 pm, and the Nit de la Recerca (Research Night), from 4 pm to 8 pm. Both initiatives will offer interactive, recreational and science outreach activities to promote university life and bring research closer to society.

La Comunitària welcomes the new academic year

From 12 pm to 4 pm, a new edition of La Comunitària will take place. This community event aims to welcome new members of the UAB and provide a meeting point for the entire university community.

At the Bellaterra campus, Plaça del Coneixement will host around 50 stands run by student groups registered withelDirectori and by University services offering activities and support for students. At the Sabadell campus, students will be able to take part in table tennis, basketball and chess tournaments, among other recreational activities.

The event is an opportunity to discover student associations and university services, find out about activities taking place on campus and strengthen the University's network of student groups.

You can find the full programme on the  La Comunitària blog.

The Nit de la Recerca brings science to audiences of all ages

From 4 pm to 8 pm, the UAB's SiS space will host the Nit de la Recerca (Research Night), a science outreach initiative that aims to bring research, innovation and the people behind them closer to audiences of all ages in an accessible and engaging way.

The on-campus research fair will feature science workshops, demonstrations, talks, games, competitions, telescope observations, laboratory visits and music, among other activities. There will also be short talks by researchers from the UAB and research institutes within the UAB Sphere.

Under the slogan “Research for Change”, the initiative is part of the European Researchers’ Night, which takes place every year in more than 300 cities across 30 European countries, with the aim of bringing science closer to the public.

You can consult the UAB short-talk programme and find full details of the UAB's workshops and demonstrations.

The UAB invites everyone to take part in both events and enjoy a day dedicated to university life, community participation and science outreach.
