On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the Faculty of Communication Sciences will host the 50th anniversary celebration of Ràdio 4, with an event dedicated to the station’s history and role in the Catalan radio broadcasting landscape.
The event will begin from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a live broadcast of Ràdio 4’s morning magazine programme. From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., a roundtable discussion will explore the historical significance and current role of Radio Nacional de España in Catalonia—Ràdio 4—within the Catalan radio broadcasting landscape. The discussion will be moderated by Esteve Crespo and will feature Armand Balsebre, Antoni Vidal, Sònia Urbano and Gemma Nierga.
Ràdio 4 was the first generalist radio station to broadcast entirely in Catalan after the Franco dictatorship, making it a key institution in the history of Catalan-language broadcasting.
The event will resume from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a live broadcast of Ràdio 4’s afternoon magazine programme.
