Opening ceremony of the UAB academic year 2026-2027

The UAB will welcome the 2026-2027 academic year on 2 October with an institutional event that will take place at 12.30 pm in the Rectorate's auditorium. The inaugural lecture, entitled “Catalan culture without borders”, will be given by the American linguist Mary Ann Newman, specialist in Catalan literature and culture. During the ceremony, the Jaume Vicens Vives distinctions and the M. Encarna Sanahuja Yll mentions will be awarded.

The event will also mark the beginning of the UAB thematic year dedicated to Catalan culture and will constitute the official opening of the course of the entire university system of Catalonia. The ceremony will be chaired by the rector of the UAB, Javier Lafuente Sancho, and by the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa.
