Museums of Sant Cugat

Seu dels Museus de Sant Cugat

The Museums of Sant Cugat join the UAB Campus of Archeology network in 2020, as a result of the close relationship with UAB research and teaching almost since its founding.

The museums were inaugurated in 2003 with the main mission of promoting research, conservation and dissemination of the heritage of Sant Cugat del Vallès. Its main headquarters are the cloister of the Monastery of Sant Cugat and the Modernista Winery, from where the main lines of work are articulated:

  • The Sant Cugat Monastery, the headquarters of the Sant Cugat Museums, is an ideal monument from which to explore the feudal world, monastic culture and medieval art.
  • The Modernista Winery is the result of a long wine-making tradition in the city that takes root in the Roman world and reaches the 20th century.
  • The historical, artistic and archaeological environment of the city, with a rich and varied heritage that reflects the past and is an inexhaustible resource for the museum's activity.

Research and teaching are carried out in these three areas, as well as the dissemination and organization of activities related to their dissemination to the public. They enhance the role of heritage, history and culture as tools for personal enjoyment and social transformation, putting them at the service of citizens in multiple facets: education, leisure and tourism, social inclusion, fundamental rights, etc.
