Course in Design and Online Management of Health Databases: MS-Access and REDCap

The course explains the fundamentals of relational database design and management to ensure quality data capture and the correct manipulation of this data. It teaches the optimal design of protected data entry forms (protection by range, by dictionary of possible values, by logical conditions, by jump conditions, etc.) and how to make queries to generate reports and data arrays , with calculated fields and filters, for statistical analysis.

The course uses a simplified follow-up registry of cardiovascular patients. This record explains how to design and manage a health database: standardized design of tables and links between them, creation of forms for a protected entry of data, selection of data through queries, printing of 'advanced reporting and design and management of online studies.

Two database design and management tools will be used in the course: Access for databases on a personal computer or in a local network, and REDCap for databases on the Internet.
