Seminar was focussing on Dr Bhakta's interdisciplinary research, research-informed teaching and doctoral training in global infectious deseases at the Department of Biological Sciences, Birkbeck College, University of London.

The research talk introduced the desease tuberculosis (TB) and the causal germ, emergence of extensively antimicrobial resistance as a global health emergency and ways to tackle the dreadful infectious disease. Presentation highlighted three thematic areas of interdisciplinary research programme at ISMB-Mycrobacteria Research Laboratory:

(a) Identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets.
(b) Whole-cell phenotypic screening platform, from identifying hits to optimising leads in the discovery of new antibiotics
(c) Repurposing/repositioning existing drugs to reverse antimicrobials resistance in TB

Research talk was followed by a very brief note on Dr Bhakta's research-led UG/PG teaching, doctoral training and mentoring experience at Birkbeck, University of London.
