The Language Service offers teaching and research staff the chance to take exams leading to certificates of language proficiency.

In the case of Catalan, the Inter-university Committee for the Teaching of Catalan (CIFOLC) organises exams in February and June leading to the Sufficiency Level certificate for university teachers and researchers. These certificates are recognised by the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat). Academic staff may also take the Language Competence Certificate exam (COLIS) for teaching activity at the UAB.

In the case of English, in February and July, there are sittings of the Communicative Skills Certificate (CRAC) exam for these staff, leading to a certificate of proficiency in any one of the six Language Service levels, corresponding to levels A1, A2, B1, B2.1, B2.2 and C1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages.

In addition, the Language Service offers further exam sittings for those who wish to obtain a certificate of their language level.
