Quality promotion

The Quality Guarantee Unit (UGQ) was set up so the UAB could fulfil its commitment to offering academic courses, services and activities of the highest possible quality. The UGQ guarantees the quality of the data obtained at the UAB's research unit and optimises the quality of the services these units provide for their clients.
The UGQ follows a Quality Guarantee Programme, a system set up so the Management can be sure that specific requirements are met, according to the level of quality that each research unit wants to reach or is obliged to reach.
 Quality Management Systems
Services
The UGQ's current role is to establish three quality management systems and to provide support for these systems:
  • -ISO 9000 series: research units that consider obtaining the certificate to increase competitiveness.
  • -UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard: standard of technical competence required for research units that need to integrate into the European system for assessing whether laboratories meet the requirements for being accredited for testing and/or calibration.
  • -Principles of good practice for laboratories: Royal Decree 1369/2000 for research units for which the principles are compulsory, i.e. they are legally obliged (BPL).
