UAB Master Plan 2006-2009

The UAB Master Plan for the period 2006-2009, passed on 20 July 2006 by the Governing Council of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, is the document that establishes what the UAB is and what it should be like in the future as well as the strategic lines and specific actions to carry out during the period in order to achieve this.

The master plan established the view of the UAB as a public university and the broad ranging strategic lines pluriannual objectives and specific actions, divided into different lines of action.

One particula5rly important lines is that involving people, where one of the long term strategic objectives was to make the UAB and its campuses a good place to study, teach, carry out research, work and live together.

One of the pluriannual objectives is to maximise access for all members of the university community and other user of the Bellaterra campus, giving priority to the most sustainable, safest, most efficient and equitable means of transport, as an essential route for achieving the objectives for integration and improvement in the quality of life, work and study.

In this respect, among the specific actions in the university community the UAB Strategic Accessibility Plan was approved as a tool defining the sector policy at the University in terms of mobility and accessibility and the constitution of the UAB Table of Mobility as a participatory body for this task.

After many years spent analysing accessibility the UAB, through its Mobility, Transport and Territorial Studies Group (GEMOTT) of the Department of Geography includes mobility management as a strategic line of university policy.
