Visa for relatives of teaching and research staff

Teaching and research staff from outside the EU who are working at the UAB and wish to be accompanied by their relatives during their stay (whether on sabbatical or working) in Spain, can apply for one of the following modes:
B) Family regrouping

At the consulate where the member of teaching or research staff applied for their WORK AND RESIDENCY VISA, they can apply for a RESIDENCE VISA FOR NON-LUCRATIVE ACTIVITIES. The procedure for this kind of visa is slower than that of the WORK AND RESIDENCY VISA for the teacher or researcher, since communication with Spain are non-electronic and the granting periods tend to be longer.

Once in Spain, the relatives can contact the IWP for help with applying for their residence permit. There is a period of one month from the day of entry into Spain to apply for this permit.

Given that this is a residence permit for non-lucrative activities, the Government Office of the destination province will request accreditation of economic means from the main residence holder to ensure that the relatives can support themselvesfor at least the first year: 1,872 euros gross per worker and 642 euros gross for each accompanying relative.

The residence permit for non-lucrative activities does not permit application for any kind of work permit until one year has passed.
