In 1999/2000, the UAB introduced a lecture series entitled Secondary School Gatherings, which evolved into what is now known as Dissbtes de les Matemàtiques (Maths Saturdays), a new format introduced in 2003/04. After so many years, the "Dissabtes de les Matemàtiques" have become a classic and, in each edition, more than a hundred high school students, teachers, monitors and other fans of mathematics have the opportunity to participate in this experience. The sessions always follow the same structure: At 10am, there is a talk in the assembly hall of the Faculty of Science. At 11am, a light breakfast is served. At 11.30am, a there is a practice session or workshop related to the topic of the day. Most of the talks are given by current or former members of the Department of Mathematics. If you are interested in a topic discussed at one of these sessions, contact the UAB’s Argo Programme to request the Department’s support in carrying out a research project on a related subject.
