6 June 1968.Decree-law creating the UAB is enacted.
27 July 1968.Provision added by which the Faculties of Arts, Medicine, Sciences and Economic Sciences would be created.
8 October 1968.First meeting of the UAB's Development Committee.
30 October 1968.Inaugural session of the academic year for the Faculty of Arts at the Monestir de Sant Cugat del Vallès.
October 1968.Faculty of Medicine established at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau.

1969/70 academic year. Faculty of Sciences begins lectures at the Hospital de Sant Pau.
1969/70 academic year. Faculty of Economics and Business Studies begins lectures.
23 February 1969. Contract signed for the purchase of the land in Bellaterra on which the UAB would be built.

6 October 1970. First meeting of the UAB Board (although it was set up as a provisional Board).
1970. First UAB statutes approved.
September 1970 .The Rector, Vicenç Villar i Palasí, presents the construction projects for the land in Bellaterra.

1971. Faculty of Law created.
1971. Faculty of Information Sciences created (now known as the Faculty of Communications Studies)
1971. Vall d'Hebron Hospital and Hospital de Nostra Senyora del Mar incorporated as medical training centres.
October 1971. Faculty of Sciences transferred to Bellaterra.
29 October 1971. First session of the UAB Senate in the Conference Room at the Hospital de Sant Pau.

15 March 1972. The Senate elect Vicenç Villar i Palasí as Rector.
May 1972. Additional land is bought.
1972. The Rectorate and General Library are opened.
1972/73 academic year.
Faculties of Arts, Economics and Business Studies, and Information Sciences opened in Bellaterra.
1972. University College of Translators and Interpreters created.

1973. Sant Cugat University College of Teachers created.
1973. Original statutes suspended.
1975
15 March 1975. Bellaterra Manifesto.
1976
1976. UAB Board of Trustees dissolved. Josep Laporte is named as Rector and begins the process of developing the new statutes for the University. Bellaterra Declaration: Declaration of the principles and objectives of the Universitat Autònoma under a democratic government.
1978
July 1978. Agrees to come under the protection of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government).
1979
11 May 1979. Second UAB statutes approved.
1980
1980. First start-of-year ceremony at the UAB.
1982
1982. Faculty of Veterinary Medicine created.
1985
1985. New statutes approved for the UAB in accordance with the University Reform Law.

1986. Faculty of Political Science and Sociology created (first faculty opened by the decision of the Generalitat).
1990
1990. Psychology Section converted into the Faculty of Psychology.
1992
1992/93 academic year. Faculty of Translation and Interpreting formed.
1992/93 academic year .Faculty of Education formed.
1993
1993.Vila Universitària (University Village) halls of residence created.
2003
2003. UAB statutes approved.
