Researchers at the UAB and the UOC have tried to answer the question: what should the ethics of engineering be in today's world, which is so dependent on technology but at the same time so concerned about the large amounts of energy we use? Their study concludes that the ethics of engineering should not take only engineers into account, but also many other groups, institutions and individuals in society.
A doctoral thesis read at the UAB attempts to characterise the social factors involved in the differentiation between workers and queens in ant colonies. Investigating ants' behavioural mechanisms, both physiological and pheromonal, this work confirms that both the queen and the workers influence the production of new queens.
9 million years ago in South America lived up to 14 species of crocodiles, at least 7 of which shared the same geographical area, an abundance of closely related crocodiles that remains unparalleled to this day. Massimo Delfino Institut Català de Paleontologia in the UAB researcher has participated in the study published in the journal Nature Communications.
A UAB doctoral thesis has found, by means of several interviews, that teleworking gives the worker a greater degree of autonomy in organising schedules but, in turn, causes stress because when using new technologies to work, it is possible to reach a state of constant work.
Electronics based on Graphene
Scientists from the Department of Electronic Engineering at the UAB are studying, as part of a European project, the possible electronic applications of graphene, a new, highly conductive and extremely hard material that shows great promise for industrial exploitation. [ + Videos ]
