The mental health of healthcare professionals (HCPs) and professionals with high social significance (PHSSPs) is a growing concern and a strategic challenge for organisations and essential service systems. Long working hours, training requirements, high responsibility and continuous exposure to emotionally complex situations increase the risk of chronic stress, burnout, mental disorders and addictions. Added to these factors are structural, organisational and leadership elements that can further aggravate this situation.
In response, the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine at the UAB, the Galatea Foundation, Mutual Médica and the Official College of Physicians of Barcelona are promoting a specialisation diploma in the Health of Health Professionals and Those of High Social Transcendence.
The programme trains specialists to detect, prevent and treat mental health problems in these groups, providing practical tools for self-care and team healing. With a multidisciplinary and applied approach, it seeks to have a real impact on individual well-being, organisational culture, management models and internal policies of institutions, both nationally and internationally. This intervention is key to ensuring service quality and public safety in these essential sectors, which are under particular strain.
Initiative framed within the Càtedra Galatea-Mutual Mèdica.
