Judit Chamorro, holding a degree in Mathematics by the UAB, winner of the MSCA Awards, III
Judit Chamorro premi MSCA 09.06.2020  -

The MSCA awards III are Impact of intersectoral and interdisciplinary mobility and transfer of knowledge from the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes, and the cooperation of the European Commission.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Awards aim to identify the most promising researchers among those funded so far under the MSCA programme. The prices will be announced in The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Presidency Video Conference, on 19th June 2020 under the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (https://msca2020.hr/).

During her degree at the UAB, Judit did an ERASMUS in France. Afterwards, she did two Masters (Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse-FR & UPM) and a PhD  (UC3M).She was postdoc at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute-UoA (NZ) and at UoB, Inria & IHU-Liryc (FR).  Now she holds a Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowship at UPF (COLONINFO) and teaches numerical methods for biomedical enginyeering.

She explains us: “Thanks to my mathematical background, I can model biomedical problems and reconstruct medical image/signal. This allows me to do my bit to better understand clinical pathologies or detect them. I have always been passionate about maths, but I did not know maths will open all these opportunities to me. Through my degree at the UAB, I learned to deal with different problems, and this has been reflected in the interdisciplinary nature of my research working on diverse problems (optics, tomography, cardiac setting and electromagnetics), all sharing common maths behind.”

In these video she explains her project
