The Master's Degree in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced and High-Complexity Cardiac Nursing enables you to specialise as a nurse in the comprehensive care of patients with complex cardiac conditions. This programme is designed to equip you with the clinical, technical and scientific skills required to provide advanced, high-quality care in the cardiovascular field.

The continuing professional development master's programme combines up-to-date theoretical training with practical tools directly applicable to real-world clinical practice, particularly in haemodynamics, heart failure, interventional cardiology and specialist inpatient units.

The programme includes clinical placements in cardiology units at the Hospital Hermanos Trias y Pujol, a leading centre for the care of complex cardiovascular conditions. This period of training in a real-world setting allows you to consolidate theoretical knowledge, familiarise yourself with specialised care pathways and actively participate in the interdisciplinary management of cardiac patients.

The combination of rigorous teaching, high-quality facilities and practical experience in centres of excellence makes this master's programme a unique opportunity to develop professionally and prepare for the current and future challenges of cardiac nursing.

This training programme addresses the growing demand for highly qualified nursing professionals in the field of cardiology, both nationally and internationally, and facilitates access to job opportunities and the main recruitment pools at hospitals specialising in cardiovascular medicine.

Career opportunities

The skills acquired on the Master's Degree in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced and High-Complexity Cardiac Nursing equip professionals to work in highly specialised and technologically advanced settings, within a context characterised by the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and by growing innovation in increasingly less invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. This healthcare landscape demands nursing professionals with an advanced level of clinical autonomy, the ability to provide comprehensive care for cardiac patients, and up-to-date expertise in state-of-the-art procedures and technologies.

Internships

The Master's Degree in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced and High-Complexity Cardiac Nursing includes compulsory clinical placements, designed as a key component for integrating theoretical knowledge and developing advanced skills in real-world, high-complexity settings.

The placements will mainly take place at the Hermanos Trias y Pujol University Hospital (HUGTiP), a tertiary and referral centre, in specialist cardiology care units, including the cardiology ward, the heart failure unit, interventional and haemodynamic cardiology, the arrhythmia and electrophysiology units, cardiac surgery, the cardiovascular intensive and sub-intensive care units, as well as specialist clinics and cardiology day hospitals.

The main objectives of the placements are to apply advanced clinical reasoning in the assessment and care of complex cardiology patients, to develop technical and non-technical skills specific to high-level specialisation, to participate in multidisciplinary care pathways, and to acquire competencies in therapeutic education, continuity of care and patient safety.

The placements will be supervised by expert professionals and aligned with the programme's learning outcomes.

Similarly, students who can demonstrate that they are engaged in professional practice within one of the healthcare units covered by the Master's programme may apply for full or partial recognition of their curricular placements, in accordance with the university's current regulations and subject to an assessment of whether the relevant learning outcomes have been achieved.
