We look forward to welcoming you on 21 September to the session “Sexual Violence: A Victimological Approach”, organised by the UAB Criminology Alumni Network. The session will take place online at 6:30 p.m.

Each victim experiences and processes trauma in a unique way and often faces misunderstanding regarding how that trauma is expressed. As a result, crime victims frequently feel judged or invalidated due to biases and a lack of understanding of trauma and victimological processes.

In this talk, we will learn to identify the most common victimological phenomena and challenge social biases and judgments that are often unsupported by scientific evidence.

Presented by Dr Elena Garrido Gaitán, Psychology alumna (2003) and PhD in Perception, Communication and Time (2016), forensic and clinical psychologist, lecturer at UAB and President of the Legal Psychology Section of COPC.

Moderated by Dr Anna Meléndez, lecturer, researcher in criminology and the criminal justice system, and coordinator of the Criminology Alumni Network.
