This course integrates patient safety, quality of care, the nursing role, and the management of the robotic surgical process as its central focus. It is aimed at developing competencies in robotic system management, teamwork, and decision-making in highly complex environments, as well as providing knowledge of the different robotic surgical procedures and the specific associated nursing care.
- Foundations of safe and quality nursing care in robotic surgery.
- Nursing interventions in the preoperative phase.
- Nursing interventions in the intraoperative phase.
- Nursing interventions in the postoperative phase.
Block 2: Surgical Specialties and Applications of Robotic Surgery
- Nursing care in robotic thoracic surgery.
- Nursing care in robotic gynecology.
- Nursing care in robotic ENT (Otolaryngology) and head and neck surgery.
- Nursing care in robotic urological surgery.
- Nursing care in robotic plastic surgery.
- Nursing care in robotic orthopedic and trauma surgery.
- Nursing care in robotic cardiac surgery.
Graduates of this diploma program can practice as scrub and support nurses in robotic surgery, participating directly in surgical procedures as specialized scrub or circulating nurses. This role involves room preparation, the management of robotic equipment, and coordination with the surgical team, ensuring patient safety and the efficiency of the operative workflow.
- Lead or Coordinator Nurse in Robotic Surgery
They can also develop their careers as lead or coordinator nurses for robotic surgery programs, leading the implementation and consolidation of this technology within surgical departments. This profile assumes duties in staff supervision and training, the development and updating of protocols, process management, and liaison with multidisciplinary teams, clinical management, and the technological industry.
- Expert Nurse in Training, Simulation, and Technological Innovation
Another career path is that of a nurse specialized in training, simulation, and technological innovation, participating in the design and delivery of training programs for surgical teams, particularly in simulation environments. This profile contributes to innovation and applied research projects, as well as the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, including training in both technical and non-technical skills.
- Advanced Practice Nurse in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery
Finally, graduates can practice as advanced practice nurses in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, assuming responsibilities in clinical advisory, patient follow-up, and coordination of the surgical process. This role includes participation in research lines, the promotion of evidence-based practice, and the continuous improvement of the quality of care.
