Dr Tatiana Rovira, vice-rector of Studies and Quality, opened the event by welcoming all the guests, saying "we help to expose all the talent that has come out of this house, you play the lead role by sharing your experience."

Xesco Espar then started his talk by providing a clear view of how the business world can benefit from the leadership principles of great sport coaches and vice versa. The aim of the session was to turn a group of people into a real team.

"If the climate is motivating, the results will come alone," said Espar, before emphasising that for things to go well it depends on people knowing what to do and wanting to do it. He also stressed that "change is permanent and that is why we have to deal with it in two ways. By adapting and projecting ourselves in the face of change. In other words, by taking risks."

He shared the formula for performance, saying that it "is the result of multiplying our talent by the emotion we put into doing things." He also presented four key aspects of leadership in the face of challenges: having ambition, accepting defeat as part of learning, redefining problems as opportunities for growth, and distinguishing between teams and groups through values such as generosity and commitment. He concluded by reflecting that "leadership is about seeing what others do not see."

The event was closed by Mr Jaume Bombardó, HR consultant and professor, and alumni coordinator of the Labour Relations network, who thanked Xesco Espar for its presentation that had been so inspiring for everyone in attendance and encouraged them to take part in the activities of the UAB Alumni Network.

The event concluded with a networking session where the attendees were able to share their thoughts on the session with the other guests and with Xesco Espar himself.
