Resumen de la actividad de investigación

I have a strong commitment towards the improvement and the innovation of the health system. I was the Head of the Gynaecology Service of the Vall Hebron Hospital since 2013 until 2024, and and I am currently Principal Investigator of the Biomedical Research Group in Gynecology at Vall Hebron Institute of Research from 2014. In the year 2004 I obtained my PhD in Medicine and Surgery at the University Autonomous of Barcelona (extraordinary award, UAB). Since then I have been participating in 51 research projects, 21 of them as Principal Investigator. As a result of this research, I have published a total of 318 peer- reviewed articles in international journals (H-index: 42), as well as 34 articles in national journals, 37 book chapters (national and international), and 5 patents, one is licensed and ended up in a the first commercialized IVD in endometrial cancer.

I am a Full Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Vall d'Hebron University Hospital).

I have broad experience in clinical oncology, gynecological oncological surgery as well as great deal of experience as co-coordinator of translational oncology projects. Currently, all the ongoing projects carry out by my research group are based on unmet clinical issues on gynecologic cancers of the endometrium, ovary, cervix and vulva; and on gynecologic benign pathologies, such as endometriosis; combining both basic and translational research.

Co-Author of 3 Clinical Guides in Spain and participation in ESGO European guidelines.

Department of Obstetrics and Ginecology of the Hospital Materno-Infantil Vall Hebrón is recognised and accredited like a European Training centre in Gynaecological Oncology from 2014 to 2025 by European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and European Society of Gyneacological Oncology. The Gynecological Oncology unit is also accredited by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) as a center for the treatment of ovarian cancer, and is part of the ESGO consortium (IP and Board Member).

Co-director of the Spain GOG Network of the Spanish Society of Gynecological Oncology (SEGO).
