STS Encounters in the Mediterranean: First STS-CAT International Conference (2027)
Tensions, utopias and sociotechnical controversies. Call for Panels open until 15 June 2026.
The Associació Catalana d’Estudis de la Ciència i la Tecnologia (STS-CAT) is pleased to announce the first international conference organised by the Catalan Association for Science and Technology Studies (STS-CAT), entitled “STS Encounters in the Mediterranean”. The event will take place in Barcelona (Institut d’Estudis Catalans) from 3 to 5 February 2027.
The conference aims to create a meeting space for researchers, collectives, practitioners and early-career scholars interested in exploring, from the perspective of Science and Technology Studies (STS), the tensions, utopias and sociotechnical controversies that shape the Mediterranean as a space of encounter, conflict and collaboration.

- Vololona Rabeharisoa (Centre de Sociologie de l’Innovation, Mines ParisTech)
- Melike Şahinoğlu (Middle East Technical University, Ankara)
