Service of Ionising Radiations (SRI)

The main functions of the Ionising Radiations Service (SRI) are to advise, monitor, measure and certify that radioactive or radiodiagnostic facilities on the campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona comply with current legislation on radiological protection.

• Preparation of technical-legal documents and procedures for the drafting of annual reports and applications for authorisation to modify radioactive installations.
• Conducting radiological safety studies.
• Irradiation of biological samples.
• Assessment of radiological risks and estimation of staff doses. 
• Monitoring of radiation levels and contamination of facilities. 
• Calculations for the declassification of radioactive waste. 
• Procedures for the optimisation of radioactive waste management.
• Advice on legislation concerning radiological protection.
