Francis Galton: Why Extremes Don't Last (Almost)

Al_Bon

This presentation shows, based on anecdotes from the life of Francis Galton, the importance of his findings and vindicates him as a key figure in much of the statistics that most disciplines use today. We will place special emphasis on regression to the mean —without which the theory of evolution would not hold up—, but we will also talk about his study of the beauty of women in different British cities and that time he almost drowned in his bathtub while testing a device for breathing underwater.
