The PhD in Communication and Journalism aims to train professionals in methodological and theoretical aspects of research in the field of journalism and communication.

This training guides PhD students in the production of a doctoral thesis which requires them to reach a high level of research in the area of social communication and to apply for positions in international companies and organisations.

This PhD programme has a long-standing academic and research tradition and aims to ensure advancement in knowledge and in the investigation of innovative techniques in communication sciences.

The Department of Journalism and Communication, which  offers this doctoral programme, is a pioneer in Spain and has been an international reference from the outset.

The department was established over 25 years ago and has since maintained a strong teaching and research profile, enabling its established research groups to secure a significant number of projects through various competitive national and international funding calls.

The doctoral programme is offered within the framework of several international agreements with highly recognised universities and organisations. Notably, it actively collaborates with the UNESCO UNITWIN Programme on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue, as well as with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
