The Departament de Matemàtiques UAB highlighted in a list of Spanish researchers in Mathematics according to the h-index.
Professors Pere Ara, Armengol Gasull and Jaume Llibre, three researchers of our department, appear in the list of the 25 top mathematicians statewide, sorted by their h-index. The h-index, introduced in 2005 by the physicist JE Hirsch of the University of California, measures the impact of scientific production. Specifically, the index of a researcher is greater than or equal to h if he/she has h articles that have been cited, each one, at least h times. For example, a factor h = 15 means that the researcher has 15 papers cited at least 15 times and the researcher does not have 16 papers cited at least 16 times each. According to the promoters of the study, the ranking of experts from different areas of knowledge ordered by the factor h is designed based on the data of ISI Web of Science and is updated periodically.
