Training on sexual violence has been carried out at technical staff of Sabadell's city hall

On 30th of October Dr. Maribel Ponferrada from the Observatory of Equality of the UAB made a training named "Implications of the gender perspective" in a conference organized by the Civil Rights Councillorship of Sabadell's City Hall. The local government organized this activity for the staff, which works equality and sexuality subjects with students of the 3rd of ESO in the high schools from Sabadell.

The training was focused on the gender perspective and non-sexist language . At the beginning, the theoretical framework was defined, which would be worked on, specifying certain cocnepts such as sex o gender. In the second part of the theoretical framework some aspects to be taken into account to work on the gender perspective in education and work with young people were discussed, such as the socialization of gender in the family, romantic love, the role of female and male friendships or the impact of the media among others. In addition, the guideline were also presented to promote reflections on gender and equality whithin the classroom and a series of resources that could be found on-line to continue working on this issue.

After the theoretical part, the session concluded with a joint discussion where the main reflections about the professional experiences of the technical staff when working with young girls and boys were shared. Situations and knowledge about their work in the subject of equality and sex were compared with the students of 3rd of ESO of the different institutes of Sabadell, as well as the complexities of the intersections of gender in issues of social class and origin.
