Access

Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.

Admission requirements

The Student Selection Committee is responsible for the admission of students. The selection is based on the information submitted by the candidates concerning their personal and professional information, previous studies and language skills, and on the letters of recommendation and personal motivations for applying.

The admission criteria agreed by the MorphoPHEN consortium are:

  • At the academic level: a university degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, medicine or veterinary medicine.
  • At the level of language proficiency: demonstrate proficiency in English by means of a certificate at level C1 or similar. Proficiency in English can be demonstrated by one of the following certificates:

 

(a) TOEFL: if it is a paper-based test, a score of at least 577, and  If it is an online test, a score of at least 90 overall and a score of at least 24 in the writing section.

(b) Cambridge qualifications: pass at level C1 or higher.

(c) IELTS: obtain an overall mark of at least 7.0, with a minimum of 6.0 for each part and a minimum of 7.5 for the writing section.

The Student Selection Committee considers language certificates valid for two years.

  • Proof of language proficiency is not required for applicants who are nationals of English-speaking countries, or who have obtained a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from a higher education institution with English as the language of instruction (USA, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Republic of Ireland or Canada). A certificate confirming that the language of instruction was English must be provided.

The result of the selection process is sent to  the e-mail address provided by the candidate in the pre-registration form.

Selection criteria

If demand exceeds the number of places offered, places are allocated taking into account  following selection criteria:

  • Academic training in biomedicine (15 %)
  • GPA of the academic transcript (15 %)
  • Work experience in a relevant field, e.g. laboratories working with mice (15 %)
  • Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research in the field of biology (15 %)
  • Letter of motivation (authenticity, interest in biomedical research) (20 %)
  • Essay on a topic suggested by the Student Selection Committee, maximum 2 pages (20 %)
