Presentation Lineth Rodríguez
Description:
You are invited to the seminar that will take place on Friday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m., in the E2 seminar room with Lineth Rodríguez (GBSB Global Business School) who will present her paper "Linking secondary plastics suppliers and consuming companies: The Role of Purchasing ” (together with Katia PICAUD-BELLO, ESSCA School of Management).
This article focuses on the drivers and barriers to purchasing plastics in secondary markets and the role of purchasing in facilitating the link between suppliers of secondary plastics and consumer companies. The supply chain literature has largely investigated secondary markets from a closed-loop systems perspective. Plastic is one of the materials that has long been associated with the circular economy in open-loop systems and is considered a valuable resource in the secondary market. A relevant issue for companies buying from the plastics secondary market is the low degree of control over the quality of incoming material delivered from suppliers, especially in the case of multiple suppliers providing the same waste. Recent studies point to the critical role that coordination between suppliers plays in increasing the production and use of recycled plastics. Therefore, the alignment of material properties, production techniques and product designs for recycling requires greater sharing of information practices. The role of purchasing in facilitating information exchange practices between secondary suppliers of plastics and consumer companies is explored.
