In judicial proceedings, it is important for statements to be given coherently as they can affect the final judgement.
Safety and security officers in both the public and the private sector must have a knowledge of the different situations and procedures they can come across in a trial, of their rights and obligations in all these, and how best to approach each one.
Questioning on a particular situation can vary according to the questioner's role: defence, public prosecution or private prosecution. It must also be kept in mind that parallel trials can take place in the Media, which can impact public opinion on someone's guilt or innocence before the trial begins, and affect the state of mind of trial participants when giving evidence.
