Dimecres 22 de setembre, a les 11:30h, a la Sala de Graus de les Facultats de Ciències i de Biociències, hi haurà el Col·loqui del departament de Matemàtiques amb el títol Kernel-Based Reconstrution of Medical Images from Scattered CT Scans a càrrec del Dr. Armin Iske de la Universitat d'Hamburg .

Abstract:
Algebraic reconstruction techniques (ART) to approximate medical images from computerized tomography (CT) scans are classical alternatives to the Fourier-based filtered back projection. ART essentially require a beforehand selection of suitable basis functions, whose properties take heavy impact on the performance of the resulting numerical algorithms. This talk explains the construction of kernel-based algebraic reconstruction methods to approximate medical images from scattered CT scans. To this end, we first discuss key features of kernel-based approximation, before we turn to important computational aspects concerning the implementation of their resulting ART algorithms. Numerical examples and comparisons of medical image reconstructions are finally provided.
