New Equipment at SeRMN valued at €3.13 million
€3.13 million in funding (EQC2024) is secured to improve the infrastructure of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Service at UAB.
The UAB Magnetic Resonance Service (SeRMN) achieves a significant milestone in the 2024 infrastructure call (EQC2024) with the approval of two innovative proposals led by Dr Teodor Parella, securing a total of €3.13 million to modernise its state-of-the-art MRI and NMR scientific equipment:
- Upgrade of a 7 Tesla Biospec 70/30 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner – €1,812,566.45
- Acquisition of 400 MHz and 600 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectrometers – €1,320,014.56
This transformative investment will redefine the capabilities of the SeRMN, addressing the obsolescence of the existing equipment and enabling world-class research in magnetic resonance. The funding will support:
- Renewal of the 7T Biospec MRI system
- Upgrade of the 600 MHz AVANCE II NMR spectrometer
- Replacement of the obsolete 400 MHz AVANCE III and 250 MHz AVANCE NMR spectrometers
With this significant upgrade, the SeRMN-UAB is poised to enter a new era of scientific excellence, enhancing research capabilities and reinforcing its leadership in magnetic resonance technology!
