The UAB Magnetic Resonance Service (SeRMN) achieves a significant milestone in the 2024 infrastructure call (EQC2024) with the approval of two innovative proposals led by Dr Teodor Parella, securing a total of €3.13 million to modernise its state-of-the-art MRI and NMR scientific equipment:

  1. Upgrade of a 7 Tesla Biospec 70/30 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner – €1,812,566.45
  2. Acquisition of 400 MHz and 600 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectrometers – €1,320,014.56

This transformative investment will redefine the capabilities of the SeRMN, addressing the obsolescence of the existing equipment and enabling world-class research in magnetic resonance. The funding will support:

  1. Renewal of the 7T Biospec MRI system
  2. Upgrade of the 600 MHz AVANCE II NMR spectrometer
  3. Replacement of the obsolete 400 MHz AVANCE III and 250 MHz AVANCE NMR spectrometers

With this significant upgrade, the SeRMN-UAB is poised to enter a new era of scientific excellence, enhancing research capabilities and reinforcing its leadership in magnetic resonance technology!
