Master description

The master's degree is made up of four specialisations: "Modelling for Science", "Mathematical Modelling", "Modelling for Engineering" and "Data Science".

The master's degree consists of 60 ECTS credits. All students must enrol in the modules Research and Innovation (6 ECTS), Optimization (6 ECTS), Parallel Programming (6 ECTS) and the Master Thesis (12 ECTS).

Each of the master's degree specialisations consists of:

  • 18 compulsory credits (common to all specialisations)
  • 12 compulsory Master Thesis credits (common to all specialisations)
  • 12 compulsory specialisation credits
  • 18 optional credits

Students must declare on their enrolment sheet the specialisation they are interested in enrolling in. The master's degree coordinator cannot authorise a student's enrolment until the student has specified his/her specialisation.

Specific validations for the master's degree in Modelling for Science and Engineering:

Students may validate up to a maximum of 12 credit belonging to modules from the master's degree in Advanced Mathematics offered by the University of Barcelona and from the master's degree in Advanced Mathematics and Mathematical Engineering offered by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
