Official Master's Degree in International Development
The master’s degree in International Development, is intended to educate future professionals in the area of development from a global perspective, in light of the increasing concern about development issues and the high demand for professionals with qualified, interdisciplinary training in this field.
The programme consists of 60 credits ECTS and is one year in duration. It is taught in English, combining theory and practice and and provides students with both academic rigour and policy relevance. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive set of analytical skills, robust training in research methods, and a thorough understanding of key issues such as global governance and development, economic growth and sustainability, conflict over limited resources, new emerging powers and social movements, and ongoing trends in inequalities in livings standards. The postgraduate programme includes the possibility of taking an internship or studying abroad for one semester.
All the degrees offered by IBEI are official and adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). They are jointly awarded by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
IBEI is part of the UPF International Campus of Excellence, as well as an affiliate member school of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA). The Institute is a centre of academic excellence specialised in International Studies. It combines distinguished research with top-quality teaching and student-oriented services.
