The faculty opened the 2023-2024 academic year with the history of Catalunya Ràdio by Jordi Borda

The Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2023-2024 took place last Thursday, October 26th, at the Faculty of Communication Sciences with the participation of Dr. Javier Lafuente, Principal Magnificent of the Autonomous University, Enric Marín, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences and the director of Catalunya Ràdio, Jordi Borda.

Enric Marín, dean of the faculty, inaugurated the event with a speech emphasizing the importance of investment in the audiovisual public service in terms of language and culture, democratic quality and promotion of the audiovisual sector.

On this occasion, the opening ceremony of the course focused on communication and a tour of the history and innovations of Catalunya Ràdio was made by its director Jordi Borda in a conference entitled “2023-2024. Centenary and recast”. Borda emphasized the importance of communication in universities and innovation in radio: “The radio is from traditional media the most flexible and the most adapted to new changes”. The 100-year journey of the first radio broadcast in Catalonia ended with the reflection of the existing need for good professionals capable of communicating the complexity of reality.

During the event, recognition was also given to recently retired people, to the students who were candidates for the extraordinary award of the 2022-2023 academic year and to the best academic record for each university master's degree of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Finally, the rector finished the Opening Ceremony of the 2023/2024 academic year, stressing that the Autonomous University wants to be an engine of change and that is why it is necessary to invest in the knowledge and training of people.
