The Faculty of Communication Sciences and UABmedia begin the celebrations of the centenary of radio in Catalonia

UABràdio will broadcast on Tuesday 13 February a special live program on the occasion of World Radio Day and the centenary of radio in Catalonia. The broadcast begins at 15:00h and can be followed by UABràdio (100.3 FM) and streaming (uab.media).

February 13 is World Radio Day, and this 2024 marks the centenary of radio in Catalonia. With this double motivation, UABràdio will transmit this Tuesday a special program live, from the hall of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the UAB.


The program leaves the studio and marks the beginning of the activities that will take place all year until November of this year, when the 100 years of pioneerism will be celebrated in Catalonia and 100 years of the inauguration of the first official radio in Catalonia and throughout Spain, Radio Barcelona.


The UABràdio team has prepared special contents and will receive guests to talk and reflect on the evolution of radio as an essential means in the history of communication. He will also talk to young people about habits of consumption of sound content, as well as about the offer of programs produced by the students for the radio of the faculty and novelties for this special year.


The broadcast begins at 15:00h and can be followed by UABràdio (100.3 FM) and streaming (uab.media).

UABràdio's participation in this event is also part of the special program of the Association of University Radios of Spain (ARU) for World Radio Day. This program, in which 17 university broadcasters have participated, will be broadcast on February 13.

The program will include several fish focused on the theme proposed by UNESCO for this occasion: "The Radio: A century informing, entertaining and educating." For 90 minutes, they will discuss various fears, from the history of radio to the challenges of future radio.
